Parents & Teachers

Your West Chicago Public Library Youth Services department offers a variety of services for educators, daycares, homeschool groups, scout troops, and many other organizations serving the kids and families in our West Chicago community.

Some of these special services include tours of the library, library attendance at local special events, individualized classroom visits, curriculum support with WCPLD materials and databases, and much more!

Outreach & Class Visits

We are excited to come and visit you and would be happy to share some of our favorite books and other library resources with you! Youth Services staff are available to visit your classroom, come to your school’s curriculum nights, or attend your organization’s special events.  Visits could include story times, book talks, and more. Let us know what your organization, classroom, or club needs, and we’ll see how we could help you achieve your goals!

Homework Help

Does your child need help with their homework?  Do you need help with your child’s homework?  Believe us, we’ve been there, and are ready to help you through it! WCPLD’s Youth Services department has materials, STEAM kits, resources, and databases to get you through whatever academic challenge your student is facing. Whether it’s math, writing, social studies, or anything and everything in between, our resources for kids could be just the tools and support necessary for your student to find academic success.

Homeschool Services

The West Chicago Library plays an important and active role in encouraging and developing an interest in lifelong learning and literacy through our collection of materials, programs, and services.  We offer a variety of services and an invaluable partnership to families homeschooling in the West Chicago community. Contact us to develop a library tour or curriculum study especially curated just for your family or homeschooling group!

Curriculum studies for students include (but are not limited to) a tour of your Youth Services department, materials pulled to support your course of study, exploration and discovery time with our STEAM based Discovery To-Go kits, database instruction, and more!  Don’t see your request or need?  Contact us and we’ll see how we could work together to get your learners the West Chicago Library resources for kids they need!

Specialized Book Bundles

Our library staff would be happy to create individualized lists and put together materials for pick up to support your child’s curriculum needs or simply for their reading pleasure.  For more information on this time-saving service, contact the Youth Services department or click this link to fill out our Book Bundle form. Early Learning, Discovery on the Go, Kindergarten Readiness and Sensory Kits

Sensory Kits
The West Chicago Public Library offers over 100 themed kits with a multitude of hands-on activities in English and Spanish. All our kits are designed to promote your child’s curiosity, discovery, exploration, imagination, and to foster a lifelong love of reading and learning!  These fun kits include science experiments, anatomical models, early math skills, Kindergarten readiness skills, pretend play, and more.
