Teens

Welcome to the West Chicago Public Library District’s teen services! This is the place for teens, grades 6-12: that’s middle school, high school, homeschool and West Chicago teens who like to kick it old school.

 Choose your own adventure!

Let us help you find what you need for school and things you just want to watch, read and play for fun. Get involved by joining our Young Adult Advisory Council or attending our many offerings for teen events and programs.  Check out our teen area on the library’s 2nd floor with all sorts of activities, or, just come in and stare at the wall, it’s your library!

DISCLAIMER: The library is not responsible for any shenanigans, mischief or good old-fashioned hijinks that may occur as a byproduct of personal enrichment and/or self-actualization.

Events and Programs

Organically grown and tailor-made happenings for grades 6-12.

Young Adult Advisory Council

This is where teens can volunteer at the library. Apply today and learn the secret handshake. Or don’t. You’ll be a council member. I’m pretty sure that means you tell US what to do?

Gaming

Check out video games to take home or play games in the library. Join gaming programs like Tabletop ‘n’ Treats (TnT) and Video Game Club. Our signature TnT program includes board games, card games, and even tabletop role-playing games (TTRPG) such as Dungeons & Dragons! The library has its own Minecraft server for all the teenage “Steves” in West Chicago!

Reading: Can’t Stop - Won’t Stop

Netflix and YouTube feeling a little stale? Find your next favorite author or request a Binge Bag for some random reading with goodies! You never know what adventure you may discover when you take a deep dive into our Binge Bags or the other great materials in our Teen Reading Lounge!

School

Resources for learnin’ good (We’re hiding the broccoli at the bottom here). If you’re looking for homework help, or academic support, we may be able to help. For more information on school support at the library, contact the Teen Librarian by giving us a call, sending us an email, DMing us on TikTok, or by dropping by the library in person!
