Are you looking for individualized, uninterrupted help from one of our qualified and friendly Library staff? West Chicago Public Library District’s “Book-A-Librarian” service, is an opportunity to get one-on-one help from a librarian. These 30-minute sessions are personalized for your needs and are available for free.
Topics covered include but are not limited to:
- Introduction to the library and all the services we offer
- Assistance downloading eBooks, audiobooks, and magazines from Overdrive (Libby)
- Guidance finding books, movies, and more in WCPLD’s online catalog
- Help using and checking out the unique materials from our Library of Things
- Tips for online research and help with research databases
- Basic computer skills
- Setting up a free email account
- Browsing the Internet and using social media networks
- Organizing files and folders on your computer
- Formatting Word documents
- Navigating a job search online or with WorkNet DuPage
- Tablet and smartphone basics
Although our librarians have a broad scope of knowledge and could help you with many different needs, library staff CANNOT provide legal, medical, or tax advice. If you need assistance with any of these subjects, library staff may be able to help you find a qualified professional who could advise you.

You may also call (630) 231-1552 Ext. 122 to schedule an appointment. A qualified librarian will respond to your request within three business days. Appointments are only available during regular library business hours.
