Young Adult Advisory Council

The Young Adult Advisory Council is the heart and soul of all things YA at the West Chicago Public Library District. They are a dedicated group of teens in 6th-12th grade who help make the library a teen-friendly place.

It’s easy to join; stop by the Reference Desk on the second floor to fill out a paper copy and submit it with a Librarian. Nate will let you know when you’ve been accepted.

The YAC is a great way for teens to have their voice heard at the Library and contribute ideas for YA programming, develop and build leadership and team working skills, and opportunities to earn volunteer hours.

Requirements

  • Must be in 6th – 12th grade
  • Have a West Chicago Public Library District card
  • Regularly attend council meetings (3 unexcused absences would require re-submitting an application)
  • Attend at least two young adult programs per year
  • Participate in the summer and winter reading programs
