Young Adult Advisory Council

The Young Adult Advisory Council is the heart and soul of all things YA at the West Chicago Public Library District. We are a dedicated group of teens in 6th-12th grade who help make the library a teen-friendly place. It’s easy to join; just fill out an application available at the 2nd floor reference desk (or download it here). Submit it to a librarian, and come to meetings with a willingness to help!  This is a way for teens to have their voice heard at the library and contribute ideas for YA programming. We always meet at 7-8pm on the first Tuesday of the month (unless we’re closed).

What the YA Council does

  • Volunteer with youth programs and other library events
  • Host an annual Multicultural Dinner attended by community leaders
  • Give the YA Librarian feedback on services, collection items, and programs that you want to see here. This includes input for the rules and prizes of reading programs!
  • Your level of involvement makes you eligible for special programs just for council members
