The West Chicago Public Library District has been working hard to collaborate with other organizations to provide programming and services outside of the library walls! Besides our typical outreach activities, visiting public celebrations and events like the beloved annual Bloomingfest, National Night Out, and Frosty Fest, our team brings services where they are needed in our community.
Every month, some of our Adult Services staff visit Aperion Care, bringing books and activities to senior patrons, and providing library card sign-up services as needed! Additionally, once a quarter, that same team brings a fun craft to the residents, driving engagement in this portion of our community.
Besides visits to Aperion, you may have seen some of our librarians visiting the various schools in West Chicago to connect students and families to library resources and support. Whether it is a curriculum night, storytime at the preschool, or tabling at the high school, WCPLD’s staff are going out to where West Chicagoans are.
The library has also established several Little Free Libraries through out West Chicago, maintaining and stocking them regularly! This brings books and reading directly into our communities, and puts books into the hands of West Chicagoans, without even requiring a library card. While WCPLD doesn’t have a branch location (yet), the little free libraries are another way we promote reading in our community.
Do you know someplace that our Outreach Team or librarians should visit? Do you know somewhere library services are needed? Then please reach out to us and let us know! We are always looking for new opportunities to connect with our community. Contact us by filling out a contact form, giving us a call at 1-(630)-231-1552, by emailing ask@wcpld.info, or by dropping by the library in-person to speak with staff. If you need more specific or concentrated help, check out our Book a Librarian service, or One on One Tech Help service. See you at the library, and hopefully out in the community too!
