Already, we have taken steps to increase E-Book access at the West Chicago Public Library District. As part of our continuing Strategic Plan implementation, we have significantly increased the budget for e-books in the 2023 fiscal year. In 2022-2023, the library spent $12,000 developing the e-book collection for patrons, resulting in 197 e-books, and 78 e-audiobooks being made available to WCPLD patrons. However, for the 2023-2024 fiscal year, we have increased our total budget for e-books to $20,000 over the fiscal year! In just July and August, the library added 41 e-books and 22 e-audiobooks to the collection. As the year continues, you can look forward to seeing new e-book resources added consistently.
Increasing access to e-books available to our patrons provides a number of advantages. While naturally we love traditional books at the library, e-books can often be acquired and added to the collection quicker. This means the titles that matter to you are available to enjoy sooner. Additionally, e-books can be accessed anywhere with an internet connection. Even if you are out of town or away from the library, you can still access thousands of titles for free from our e-book sources.
Are you ready to get e-reading? If so, check out our e-books and e-audiobooks selection and get started! If you are having trouble finding a specific title you want to read or listen to, you can request a title be added to our collection by submitting a purchase request here. For any additional questions about e-books or e-audiobooks, drop by the library and speak to a staff member, send us an email, or give us a phone call. See you at the library!
