Get to Know Your Candidates

Illinois will be hosting the next Consolidated General Election on April 1st, 2025. The following candidates will be running for the open Library Board positions. These candidates have collected the requisite amount of signatures to appear on the ballot. Each candidate was provided with an opportunity to answer some questions about why they wish to be a Library Trustee, and their qualifications for that position. Please read through the submitted answers below and get to know your candidates before the election. If you have any questions about the upcoming Consolidated General Election, please do not hesitate to reach out to the library by emailing ask@wcpld.info, giving us a call, filling out a Contact Us form, or by dropping by the library in person!

1. What are your qualifications for the position of Library Trustee?

I am passionate that leaning are growth are lifelong journeys. Libraries are essential to learning, and I want to help our library continue to be a valuable asset to WEGO.

2. What is your motivation for seeking the position of Library Trustee?

Reading is a big part of our family – we love visiting the library. I want to share our passion and contribute in a meaningful way by being on the team that meets the changing needs of our community.

3. What do you feel are the most essential services the Library should provide to the West Chicago community?

It is essential to provide our residents with access to information and resources (digital or print) and to serve as a community gathering place that can bring us all closer together.

4. If elected, what would you see as your responsibility to the patrons of the Library?

It is to serve WEGO’s library users and our community by helping to make decisions that are in WEGO’s best interests and ensure our library services are accessible and forward-looking.

1. What are your qualifications for the position of Library Trustee?

I am an enthusiastic West Chicago resident and frequent library user. With a master’s degree in digital journalism, I also deeply appreciate the value of a good research facility.

2. What is your motivation for seeking the position of Library Trustee?

Last year I served on a citizen committee with the Library Board to identify efficiencies. It was a great experience and I would be happy to commit to a permanent position on the Board.

3. What do you feel are the most essential services the Library should provide to the West Chicago community?

Bilingual; Easy-to-use interlibrary loan system; Great children’s department that fosters a love of learning; Research assistance for adult & youth; Free & safe space for study, work, and computer use

4. If elected, what would you see as your responsibility to the patrons of the Library?

A Trustee’s main job is to show up to Board meetings! That’s where decisions are made. I would also be happy to carry concerns and commendations to the Board on behalf of patrons.

1. What are your qualifications for the position of Library Trustee?

Experienced Tech Manager. Strong leadership, problem-solving, and project coordination skills. Committed to community engagement, continuous learning, and enhancing library technology and operations.

2. What is your motivation for seeking the position of Library Trustee?

I’m motivated to ensure that the people of West Chicago have a place to grow, learn, and adapt to new technology, while also keeping youth and adults engaged with the library for generations to come.

3. What do you feel are the most essential services the Library should provide to the West Chicago community?

Our library should loan books, movies, instruments, and technology; offer exceptional public classes and programs, and maintain an up-to-date inventory of all loanable materials.

4. If elected, what would you see as your responsibility to the patrons of the Library?

To make our library the best resource rich environment it can be for any patrons; giving the most we can for anyone entering; to inspire and enrich their lives in meaningful ways everyday.
